The China-based company also said they had plans for a third data centre in Europe to complement the two planned for Ireland.
Last year, the company published a new data strategy which detailed commitments to reduce employee access to European user data, reducing the flow of Europeans’ data outside of Europe, and storing European data locally.
The company has been put in the hotseat regarding its handling of user data due to its connection to China, with US politicians set to vote on whether or not to ban the app in America.
The app has already been banned on US politicians’ phones.
In June of last year, the company announced plans for the creation of 1,000 new jobs in Ireland, in addition to its 2000-strong workforce in the country.
