Ryanair is due to cancel more flights from Irish airports to France as the strikes are set to continue Monday evening with them reaching their peak this Tuesday. It is after 58 days’ worth of ATC strikes organised to date already.
Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary has urged Ryanair customers to sign a petition to pressure the President of The European Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen to take action and to keep French Airspace open.
A Ryanair spokesperson said: “It is utterly unacceptable that Van Der Leyen is ignoring the passengers who are fed up with the constant cancelations due to the ATC strikes.” The spokesperson continued: “It is completely impermissible that thousands of EU flights are getting cancelled while France and other EU countries use minimum service laws to protect their domestic flights.”
Emmanuel Macron planning to increase the pension age from 62 to 64 has sparked strikes across multiple different industries in France but the ATC movement is impacting the Irish public as the holiday season is starting to gain momentum.
