With a 26-12 victory over Great Britain in the European Games qualifying match in Krakow, the Ireland Men's Sevens team earned a spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
To secure the victory, Jordan Conroy scored two tries in the second half.
Ireland Men will compete in sport's biggest stage in Paris again after making their debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, joining the Ireland Women's Sevens, who created Olympic history in May by qualifying for their first Games.
Ireland Men joins the hosts France, New Zealand, Argentina, Fiji, Australia, and Uruguay as the seventh team to qualify for Paris 2024. The other six spaces will be filled by regional qualifying competitions and the World Rugby Repechage the following year.
Irish captain Harry McNulty said: “I can’t put it into words. Just the effort from everybody involved; teammates, backroom staff, everyone at home that didn’t get the opportunity to come over and play here, the travelling support - I think there was nearly more Irish than Polish here at one stage.”
