This Saturday morning marks the start of Parliament Street's weekend ban on vehicular traffic. From July 1 through the end of August, cars will be banned from the street from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. for pedestrians and cyclists to enjoy.
On the south side of Dublin City, Parliament Street extends from the intersection of Dame Street and Cork Hill on the southern end to the intersection of Essex Quay and Wellington Quay on the northern end.
The Office of City Recovery has planned a number of kid-friendly events for Saturday and Sunday, July 1 and 2 respectively, on Parliament Street, from 1pm to 6pm, to coincide with the traffic-free arrangements this weekend, which is taking place on Saturday, July 1st and Sunday, July 2nd.
There will be face painters, giant games, magicians, and a ton of family-friendly fun. During the times of the traffic-free arrangement, there will also be traffic control on the property.
Local access will be kept open between Essex Gate and Essex Street East for Essex Quay and Essex Street. Dublin Bus can provide details on the bus route changes.
Since the emergency services will have access to all areas on Parliament Street, emergency vehicular access will always be maintained.
