In order to accommodate passengers travelling to a number of important events in Dublin this weekend, including the All-Ireland Senior Football final, additional rail routes have been introduced.
On Sunday (throw-in at 3.30pm), Kerry will play Dublin in the championship game at Croke Park. For fans travelling to the event, additional train connections have been introduced from Tralee and Killarney to Heuston Station.
An 8.55am service from Killarney and a 9.30am service from Tralee to Heuston have been added to the regular 7.10am route from Tralee to Cork and continuing to Heuston. Return trains for Tralee and Killarney will leave Dublin Station at 7.30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Along with the Bray Air Display, these days also feature Celtic and Wolves' preseason matchup at the Aviva (kickoff is at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday).
Irish Rail has advised customers to book their travel as soon as possible because it anticipates a very high level of demand for all of its routes as a result of the recent events.
Along with more workers at Dart stations to help passengers and manage congestion, more Dart trains have been added to and from Bray.
“If at all possible, book your trip to avoid the periods of the events if you are not attending them but intend to use the rail services.” They said. Due to the heavy weekend traffic, bikes will not be allowed on Dart and Commuter train services, according to Irish Rail.
It is recommended that anyone planning to take the train make reservations in advance because there will likely be a strong demand and online clients will receive preference.
