Mr. Varadkar will meet with Michelle O'Neill, the head of Sinn Féin in Stormont, Jeffrey Donaldson, Naomi Long, Doug Beattie, the leader of the Alliance Party, and Matthew O'Toole, a member of the SDLP.

The “pressing” necessity to establish the Stormont institutions “without delay” is to be emphasised by the Taoiseach to the parties.

The GAA Ulster Council, the Federation of Small Businesses, and Women in economic are among the organisations with which the Taoiseach is planned to participate in a range of civic and economic activities.

Regarding if or when the Executive and Assembly will be reinstated, Ms. Long stated that there was still "no clarity".

She said that structural reform was necessary to put an end to what had become “a routine behaviour” by some of the big parties, saying “I don't expect that Leo Varadkar will be able to provide us with any solutions or answers" during our talks today.”

“I am incredibly frustrated, but I think my frustration probably pales into insignificance in terms of the frustration that is felt by the wider public at the fact that we do not have functioning institutions at a time of unprecedented financial crisis facing our public sector,” she said on RTÉ's Morning Ireland.”
