In the women's 400-meter final at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Rhasidat Adeleke finished fourth.

The Tallaght sprinter finished in 50.13, trailing Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic (48.76), Natalia Kaczmarek of Poland (49.57), and Sada Williams of Barbados (49.60).

Adeleke qualified for the final by finishing second in the semi-final on Monday.

Sarah Lavin of Team Ireland competed in the first of three semi-finals for the women's 100-meter hurdles. She finished sixth, setting an Irish record with a time of 12.62.

Despite her accomplishment, Lavin did not make it to the final since only the top two finishers from each of the three semis and the next two quickest finishers qualified.

The Women's 800m semi-final was just missed by Cork's Louise Shanahan earlier as well by just three-tenths of a second.
