On the special episode, which airs on September 20, the Irish trio Tommy, Hector, and Laurita, stars of the award-winning podcast they co-created will create a household to celebrate 25 years of Virgin Media TV.

Kerry Katona, a former Atomic Kitten singer, and Irish comedian and author Alison Spittle were also slated to join the couch and discuss the best of television together on Thursday.

Spittle, who admitted that Celebrity Big Brother, which once featured Katona, is her guilty pleasure on television, said: "I love Gogglebox; I've always wondered what it was like to watch telly on telly like a TV turducken.

We'd be happy to show Kerry the glitzy attractions in Moate and the Westmeath region, but if not, we'll just watch TV.

She added that she would adore to see a new season of the reality competition show The Fame Game on RTE Two, in which contestants vie for a chance to meet their favourite celebrity.

“The world is ready to see someone shiver in a car park to meet Jamie Dornan,” she said. “I remember watching some fella shiver in a Galway car park to meet Pierce Brosnan.”

“Watching television is my favourite thing in the entire world,” Katona declared. I find it hilarious to watch people's reactions to various things on TV, which is why I adore Gogglebox.

In the upcoming week, additional celebrities from “various strands of Irish life” will be revealed.

On September 20th at 9pm on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player, Celebrity Gogglebox Ireland will premiere.
