On Monday, the Aldborough Manor housing estate in Baltinglass, a new private, social, and affordable housing development, saw the official breaking of ground by Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien
“I'm delighted to be a part of this important milestone that is the breaking of soil at Aldborough Manor,” Mr. O'Brien said during the ceremony. Our Housing for All Plan is centred on affordability and homeownership thanks to the efforts of this government. 22 of these brand-new residences are being supported by my department through the Affordable Housing Fund (AHF), and we want to see more of these developments across the nation.
“The government's commitment to providing high-quality, reasonably priced housing throughout Ireland is embodied in this development. I hope this project becomes the benchmark for housing policies across the country.”
89 homes and a childcare facility are planned for the development, which is being led by Fitzpatrick and Heavey Homes.
The groundbreaking ceremony today confirms our commitment to addressing the housing needs in Wicklow and rural Ireland, according to Ciaran Fitzpatrick, chief executive of Fitzpatrick and Heavey Homes. In addition to housing, this development will support a thriving community that is tucked away in Baltinglass's exquisitely landscaped surroundings.
Additionally present were representatives from Wicklow County Council, including the chief executive Emer O'Gorman. We are pleased to have collaborated on a project that closely resembles our objectives for neighbourhood development and environmental sustainability, said Ms. O'Gorman. We're eager to witness Aldborough Manor's beneficial effects on the Baltinglass neighbourhood because it will be a wonderful addition.
Aldborough Manor, situated on a site with views of the River Slaney, will provide homes between 1,250 and 1,300 square feet starting at just €260,000. Under the Affordable Housing Scheme, these units are included.
