Just before 8.30pm, Irish Rail personnel had to walk the passengers from the train towards Bray because they had become stranded.
There are now no DART trains operating south of Dalkey, according to Iarnród Éireann, who are working to address issues with overhead electricity wires in the area.
While repairs are made tonight, it is anticipated that services between Dalkey and Greystones will remain suspended.
The problem with the overhead electrical line happened close to Killiney Station.
It is anticipated that this evening's northbound services may experience delays.
