The ownership transfer will go into effect once the legally required procedures are completed following the vote at Monday night's specially called EGM at Weavers Park.
Wesley Hill, a representative of Trivela Group who will be joining the club as executive director, attended the meeting and the majority of members voted in support of the takeover.
The endorsement passed with a resounding majority, surpassing the necessary 75% of votes cast.
At 7:45 p.m. on Monday, club director Conor Hoey presented the voting results to the club's fans and members at the Windmill Road location.
After a rigorous due diligence procedure, the transaction between Trivela Group and the League of Ireland team to acquire a 100% share has finally been finalised after a full year of negotiations.
Along with Hill, the managing director of Trivela and the newly appointed co-chairman Benjamin Boycott, the board will continue to include current members Joanna Byrne, Hoey, and Niamh Leonard.
Jim McArdle will become the club's honorary president, while Andrew Purcell, Enda McCarville, Ciaran Doyle, and Jim McArdle will resign as directors but continue to be active in the organisation in different positions.
Drogheda United will benefit from the acquisition both on and off the pitch, as the club will soon receive an investment of more than €1 million.
With such money, the club's current debt—which is estimated to be between €400,000 and €500,000—will be settled.
Weavers Park will see a lot of work done in the upcoming months due to FAI licencing requirements, which also means that rapid investment in infrastructure and amenities is planned.
These will provide better supporter amenities, remodelled stands, and restrooms.
Although first-team manager Kevin Doherty was given “a more competitive playing budget” moving ahead, as was reported last week, the club's first team will not become a full-time squad until beyond 2024, since the new owners have not yet said when this would happen.
Next season, the only side playing part-time in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division will be Drogheda United.
Constructing a new stadium for the ‘Drogs’ is one of Trivela Group's long-term goals.
Although the property has not yet been bought for a new stadium, the location has been designated. The location of said land is north of the town on Termonfeckin Road. The new stadium is expected to come with a price tag of about €15 million.
Weavers Park, which is in dire need of renovations, will receive quick fixes in the near future.
Walsall, an English League Two team, was bought by Trivela Group last year. “Enduring value through the acquisition and management of association football clubs” is how the corporation defined itself.
According to co-chairperson Byrne, those present had “made history in casting their votes” and she praised them.
