Sheeran chose the video, which was made by instructors and students at Finn Valley College in Stranorlar, County Donegal, for his song "Magical" off his most recent album, “Autumn Vibrations.”

Out of over 4,000 entries from 75 countries, the video was selected as one of the 14 fan-made music videos for the album.

Sheeran released the video on Tuesday, November 28. It is described as “a school love story with a Romeo and Juliet twist.”

Edel Temple, a teacher in Finn Valley, claimed that she got the inspiration for the music video after she noticed that Ed Sheeran's Instagram page was posting about the competition.

She said: “I asked my colleague Tina Garry for help. “She, with the brilliant brains of our transition year students, wrote the pitch for the competition, devising the concept, planning the shot types and compiling a list of props to complement the narrative and music.”

“Our pupils were keen to explore the Romeo and Juliet theme, where an unrequited teenage crush was harboured by two friends,” the speaker stated, elucidating the idea behind the film.

"A love for drama and literature in a school setting was popular as we knew love and school were things that could be related to by so many people."

14-year-old Leona McGinty, the video's star, told the BBC, “It was just such a lovely experience. When they informed me, I didn't believe it to be true and assumed they were lying.”

Leona said that Ed sent a special video thanking each student participated in the endeavour.

“I was blushing red when I saw it, I couldn't believe it,” she stated.
