On Friday, May 3, 2024, Christy Dignam: A Celebration will take place in Vicar Street. It will include a number of well-known Irish musicians singing songs that Dignam sung all the way through his career, right up to his last record.
The Dignam family is supporting the event, which is being planned in response to demands from musicians and fans for a night of unity to celebrate the late Aslan frontman's legacy.
Kathryn Dignam, Dignam's wife, remarked, “Christy had a fondness for Vicar Street. He was able to establish a strong connection with his followers there and felt completely at home.”
“We are so grateful to everyone who is helping to make this celebration a reality.”
Today, the surviving members of Aslan announced on Instagram that they would not be participating in the event and that they would instead be joining forces with a different vocalist to continue the group.
The musician passed away on June 13 following an illness.
