Micheál Martin, the Tánaiste (Deputy Leader), Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Defence, has declared that the passport service has received more than a million applications in 2023.
By 2023, 175 more nations will be able to apply for the first-time using Ireland's Passport Online, allowing 99.9% of all applicants worldwide to submit their applications online for renewal or for the first time.
The passport office also provided fascinating information regarding candidates for 2023, such as the Foreign Birth Registration, which is accessible to those who were born outside of Ireland but have Irish ancestry. This year, the Passport Service has authorised more than 36,000 FBR applications.
Based on a Customer Experience (CX) group poll, Ireland's passport service was recently ranked 18th out of 150 organisations that interact with the public.
According to this assessment, the passport service is the finest public sector brand for customer service. Furthermore, the passport service's customer care centre made the shortlist for the 2023 Customer Experience Awards' “Best Customer Service Team” category.
The Tánaiste made the following statement regarding the performance of the passport service this year: “In 2023, the Passport Service has delivered an enormous volume of passports.” By the end of the year, approximately 950,000 passports will have been granted, with between 2,000 and 3,000 being issued each day.
“The Customer Service Hub has performed really well in particular. This year, the Hub has answered over 600,000 calls from residents and routinely answers all calls. The passport service has been named the greatest customer service brand in the public sector as a consequence of its dedication to public service and hard work.
“After the difficulties encountered in 2021 and 2022, these accomplishments are definitely cause for celebration. I would want to express my gratitude to the passport staff nationwide for their unwavering dedication in providing our residents with exceptional service.”
