For their work on the highly acclaimed HBO series The Last of Us, Johnny Murphy from Ballinagore and his colleagues were awarded the Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup award.

At the Creative Arts Emmys presentation held at the Peacock Arts Theatre in Los Angeles, Mr. Murphy and the team were presented with the honour.

In addition to a variety of other abilities, Mr. Murphy has over ten years of expertise in prosthetic sculpture, application, painting, and mold-making.

He has contributed to a number of well-known films and television series, such as Into the Badlands, Carnival Row, and The Last of Us.

He posts some of his works on his Instagram feed, including shots of him honing his technique on his wife Melissa Groome.

Timothy Murphy, Johnny's father, claimed that his son had always supported his own chances of winning an Emmy and had been assuring them he would do so “for many years.”

“We supported him as best as we could in the pursuit of that dream” stated the man.

“And during that trip, he had the most conscientious work ethic of anyone I have ever met.

Regarding the response from the community, we continue to celebrate, haven't gone out yet, and are responding to all of the well-wishers.

“It’s a great day for us as a family, and for Johnny and Melissa.”
