After a five-year hiatus, the 52-year-old former Dundalk manager rejoins the League of Ireland after managing the men's senior squad and the Ireland Under-21s.

Kenny has committed to Richmond Park through the conclusion of the 2029 season under a contract.

Kenny has rejoined the Saints Under-21 squad, where he began his League of Ireland coaching career in 1997–98. Following that, he took on his first senior position as Longford Town's manager.

Following his triumph in the FAI Cup with the Midlands club, Kenny went on to win additional trophies at Derry City and Bohemians, which eventually led to a transfer to the Scottish Premiership with Dunfermline.

During a brief spell in command at Shamrock Rovers, Kenny moved to Dundalk and subsequently made his League of Ireland comeback at the Brandywell.

After achieving success at Dundalk, Kenny gained attention on a global scale, receiving the Ireland Under-21 captaincy before assuming the senior position, which he held for three years.

“It's been a bit of a whirlwind, I'm looking forward to getting started, it's a new chapter in my life and a new chapter for the club, and I'll be giving it everything,” stated Kenny.

“(St Pat's chairman) Garrett Kelleher has long shared his vision for the team with me; he has ideas for the stadium, wants to take the team to the United States and Europe, and many other interesting things.”

“I signed a longer deal because I want to gradually grow the club, and I'm excited to lead it in that direction.”

There is a strong link there since my mother, who is from Inchicore and once resided in Ballyfermot, used to visit St. Pat's.

“The task of rebuilding and advancing the club is ahead of us. With three games in a week, it's a hectic period right now, but we like it.”

Friday night at Richmond Park, Kenny will take on his former team, Derry City, in his debut game as manager of the Saints.
