The air carrier, which has its headquarters in Dublin, said in a statement that the occupancy rate, which measures the percentage of seats occupied on each plane, increased by 1 percent in May to 95 percent, compared to the previous month.

In the twelve months up to May, Ryanair carried 186.9 million passengers, a rise of 9 percent, despite the occupancy rate falling one percentage point to 93 percent.

Ryanair also noted that it operated a total of 105,000 flights in May, a number that will increase during the summer season, in June, July, and August, despite delays in the delivery of orders for Boeing planes.

Ryanair Chief Executive Michael O'Leary said the airline expects to carry between 198 million and 200 million passengers in the current financial year, an increase of 8 percent, as long as Boeing meets its plane delivery schedule before the end of this year.
