Simon Harris emphasized the necessity of incorporating a cost-of-living package in Budget 2025, stating that people are “still financially hurting.”
Speaking at Government Buildings, Mr. Harris mentioned that the Government is considering immediate measures to assist people.
“Regarding the Budget, yes, there will be a cost-of-living package this calendar year,” he confirmed.
“I believe it’s very important. People are still financially hurting.
“Even though many indicators show that inflation is significantly decreasing, the reality is that this improvement hasn’t been felt yet in homes, businesses, or farms across Ireland.
“Thus, I think it’s crucial to consider what more practical measures we can implement to assist people now, especially when the country is doing well economically.
“Of course, the details and size of the package will be determined through government discussions and will be announced on Budget Day, October 1st.”
Previous budgets have included popular lump-sum payments, such as fuel allowances and double payments for child benefit.
