Northern Ireland is set to experience unsettled weather over the next few days, with two yellow wind warnings issued by the Met Office. The first warning, in effect this Friday morning, primarily impacts the eastern counties, including Antrim, Armagh, and Down.

Gusts of up to 65mph are expected along the Irish Sea and North Channel coasts, with gale-force gusts likely inland in parts of these counties. This event can lead to disruptions in travel, coastal spray, fallen trees, and potential power outages.

While low pressure in the Atlantic is driving these strong winds, Saturday is expected to be the better day of the weekend. With lighter winds and drier, sunnier spells, it offers a brief interval before the weather turns more unsettled again.

The second warning comes into effect on Sunday, covering all of Northern Ireland, with the peak expected from late morning into early afternoon. The severe weather will likely cause travel delays, power supply interruptions, and possible disruptions to daily activities.

On Sunday, Gale-force winds will be accompanied by spells of rain, resulting in unpleasant road conditions. Gusts of up to 70mph are expected along Irish Sea coasts, and some coastal routes may be affected by large waves.

The strong winds are caused by tightly packed isobars and weather fronts moving through the region, bringing unpredictable conditions over the weekend.
