The remains constitute 13 human skulls which were taken from the island without consent by two academics from the college.
In the hundred years since the skulls have been used for both research and teaching.
Residents of Inishbofin had been campaigning for the return of the remains for some time, with the decision finally announced by the college today.

According to RTÉ, Trinity Provost Dr. Linda Doyle said: "We will now work with the community to ensure that the remains are returned in a respectful manner and in accordance with the community's wishes".
