The Northern Irishman has not won a major championship since winning the PGA Championship in 2014. He comes into the tournament off the back of some average performances at the RBC Canadian Open and the Memorial Tournament last week. He has been paired with Masters Champion Scottie Scheffler and PGA Champion Xander Schauffele for the first two days.
Scheffler will look to win his second major of the season after missing out on the PGA Championship, after being arrested on day two. Scheffler also won the Memorial Tournament last week, not playing his best golf.
Another major victory for Xander Schauffele, could really shape the American as a major powerhouse, similar to the likes of Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, and Jon Rahm (who has withdrawn from this week’s major).
Irishmen Shane Lowry and Seamus Power are both in the stacked field this week that contains the likes of Ludvig Aberg, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Jordan Speith and Justin Thomas.
