Since 2021, the RSA noted six cases involving doubts about the candidate’s identity, leading to the cancellation of the scheduled test.
Specifically, there was one suspected case of impersonation in 2021, four in 2022, one in 2023, and none reported so far in 2024.
In some instances, the candidate returned with a secondary form of identification to attempt the test again. In other cases, where the individual did not return or there was a strong suspicion of impersonation, the RSA reported the concerns to the gardaí.
However, the RSA stated that their driver testing service is not informed about the outcomes of these investigations, including whether any prosecutions or convictions occurred.
