The youngest average populations were found in Fingal (35.9 years) and Meath (36.3 years), while the oldest were in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, Kerry, and Mayo, all averaging just over 40 years of age.

The population is evenly split by gender, with 50% male and 50% female.

Since April 2021, the population has increased by 50,000, and by 130,000 since April 2020. The CSO attributes this growth to changes in birth rates and migration patterns over recent decades.

More than 107,000 people have arrived in Ireland from Ukraine since the onset of the conflict with Russia. In the week ending June 2nd, just over 100 people arrived.

CSO data also indicates that 76% of those issued a PPSN number have shown activity in administrative data as of the end of March this year.
