Last year, Samantha Toner, 38, created history when she worked a full-time job and climbed 32 of Ireland's highest peaks in 32 days. Sam gathered €3,000 in remembrance of her deceased Akita, Trooper, for the animal organisation Husky Rescue Ireland.
The Wicklow resident is now looking to take on an even more demanding challenge in order to once more earn much-needed cash for the organisation. She intends to ascend the French Alps' Mont Blanc.
With a height of more than 4,800 metres, Mont Blanc is the tallest peak in Western Europe and the Alps. Rathfarnham native Samantha said: “I feel like I need to conquer this one after doing all the high peaks in Ireland because it's the highest mountain in Western Europe.” This year, Sam wants to raise an additional €3,000 for Husky Rescue Ireland.
