The key findings from ICE Group’s staff survey include heightened employee motivation, increased energy levels, better team morale, and enhanced personal wellbeing. The study also shows increased profitability since implementing the ‘3-Day Weekend’. Over 80 employees participated in this biannual survey.
A common theme in the survey responses was the value of having an extra day for quality time with loved ones, relaxation, personal projects, and creative endeavours such as gardening, learning new hobbies, and traveling.
Margaret Cox, director of ICE Group, also marked the fifth anniversary of their bestselling book, ‘The 3-Day Weekend’.
ICE Group was the first Irish company to implement a four-day week initiative.
Commenting on the survey findings, Ms. Cox stated: “Since implementing the four-day week, we have seen a 27 percent increase in our productivity levels. Many of our clients have adopted the initiative and report a positive boost in employee activity.”
Ms. Cox added: “The survey results speak for themselves. Our employees feel more relaxed at work, handle problems more efficiently, and experience greater self-confidence and motivation both at work and home. The company survey concludes that clear communication, good planning, and team collaboration are essential for the success of a 4-day working week. When asked if they would recommend other companies adopt the 4-day week, 100 percent of employees said yes.”
The ICE Group study provides compelling evidence of the positive impact the 4-day week has on employee wellbeing. Since its introduction, more than 20 percent of employees report better problem-solving abilities. The satisfaction rate has increased from 54 percent in 2019 to 75 percent in 2024.
ICE Group is a leading provider of training, recruitment, HR, and consultancy services to clients worldwide. As a family business that prioritizes employee wellness, they are pioneers of the four-day work week and continuously strive to enhance business operations throughout Ireland.
