The 250-meter track is expected to be finished in 2027 and will be constructed at the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown, Dublin.

In addition, the project will contain 12 badminton courts in the in-track area, along with seats for spectators and auxiliary amenities like a gym.

The complex "will provide state-of-the-art track cycling facilities for our cycling athletes who currently have to travel abroad for both competition and training," according to Minister Catherine Martin.

"The sport of badminton with a permanent home featuring integrated training, gym and medical facilities," she continued.

The National Sports Campus is managed by Sport Ireland, whose CEO hailed the progress.

"Exactly the sort of continued investment that is absolutely crucial for boosting participation from grassroots levels to elite athletes," according to Dr. Úna May, was how she defined the initiative.

Furthermore, Dr. May stated that the facility will "enhance high-performing Irish cyclers' chances of international, Olympic, and Paralympic medals in the future".
