The fire in August of last year entirely destroyed the McDonald's in Newbridge, but it reopened this morning at 11 a.m. with much fanfare.

The recently renovated 59-seat Newbridge eatery has a dedicated McDelivery hatch as well as two drive-thrus.

This year, it will have been operating for 25 years; it opened its doors for business in 1999. Sean Quirke, the owner of the franchise, praised the staff for their "remarkable resilience" throughout the previous year. They had been sent to other areas under Mr. Quirke's McDonald's organisation.

"I am thrilled to be welcoming our customers back through our Drive-Thru and through our doors," he declared. While the restaurant has been undergoing redevelopment, we have been incredibly appreciative of the generosity and support shown to us over the past year by many devoted patrons, neighbours, stakeholders, and elected leaders in the Newbridge region.

The fire from the previous year is thought to have started in a car next to the restaurant canopy and spread to the roof of the structure. Prior to this, a McDonald's employee had told in an interview: "We were in the kitchen when the manager barged in and ordered us to leave because there was a car on fire outside and it was on the roof.
