Since her first race in 1990, Collette O'Hagan has taken part in every Dublin Marathon.

"I believe that my passion of running is what keeps me going. I enjoy running, but I'm not the world's fastest runner or anything," Ms.

O'Hagan said. "I'm more in the centre back of the pack runner."

"There were very few runners and absolutely very few females at the time, and I thought to myself, what the hell am I doing here?

"I felt everybody was really good, really professional, but I actually settled in very well and I really enjoyed it.

"That was it, that was the start of my running journey."

One of her favourite races, she noted, is the Dublin Marathon.

"The crowd on the street... they're absolutely amazing, they're really encouraging," she continued.

Dublin has the ability to draw you back and forth repeatedly. Running the marathon is indeed an amazing experience.

Ms. O'Hagan stated that she has about 14 more races scheduled for November, so Sunday's event won't be her last.

She said it was "lovely" to see so many people wishing her luck and that on Sunday, a big group of people will be running with her while wearing pink, which is her favourite hue.

"So, watch out for the pink army on Sunday!"
