The New York-based company, which includes renowned partners like American football legend Tom Brady and tennis icon Serena Williams, has introduced a 30-person “day-one” team in Ireland. This team will be led by John Herlihy, Consello’s executive chairman and former head of EMEA for Google and LinkedIn.
Adding to the company’s Irish leadership, former Manchester United captain and investor Gary Neville, as well as former Irish champion golfer and Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley, will join as Principals.
Neville, who became Consello’s UK chairman earlier this year, will now also oversee operations in Ireland, with a particular focus on leadership development.
Consello’s expansion in Ireland includes the acquisition of two prominent firms: Belfast-based strategic communications and public affairs company Lanyon Group, and leadership development specialist Blue Lake, headquartered in the Midwest. Lanyon Group’s founder, Katie Doran, will serve as chief executive for Consello’s Irish operations.
Declan Kelly emphasized that expanding into Ireland was a natural choice, given Consello’s extensive work with global clients based in Europe. “This launch represents our commitment to strategic markets worldwide,” he said. “With the acquisition of Lanyon Group and Blue Lake, and under John Herlihy’s leadership, Consello is well-positioned to deliver unmatched advisory services across Ireland, the UK, and Europe.”
Consello’s official Irish launch next month will bring together leading executives and advisors from around the world, along with prominent figures from Irish business, sports, and civil society. Neville expressed his excitement for his expanded role, highlighting his commitment to excellence, both on and off the field, and aligning with Consello’s values.
The Irish team will deliver a full spectrum of advisory services for Consello’s global clients, including c-suite advisory, management consulting, recruiting and leadership development, communications and public affairs, sports and entertainment advisory, creative services, and technology advisory.
Kelly has also attracted some of Ireland’s top business leaders to join the advisory team, including Irial Finan, chairman of Smurfit Westrock and former executive vice president at Coca Cola; Barry O’Sullivan, vice president of manufacturing at J&J; Elaine Coughlan, managing partner at Atlantic Bridge; Margaret Sweeney, experienced board chair; and sports advisor Nick Mullen.
In addition to its business expertise, Consello’s Irish operations will feature a strong sports leadership component. Liam Sheedy, two-time All-Ireland winning Tipperary manager and co-founder of Blue Lake, will lead the company’s leadership development sector. Executive search professional Stafford Bagot, former CEO of recruiting firm Heidrick & Struggles, also joins the team.
