Paul Mescal, a native of Kildare, spent almost an hour interacting with the crowd of fans. As he walked down the red carpet to the applause of the assembled journalists and fans, Mescal was in a good mood, chatting, signing books, and taking pictures.
The Oscar-nominated actor praised Irish fans in an interview with RTÉ, stating that he was "always blown away by Irish fans who come and stand and wait to meet us."
He continued: "Myself and the other Irish in London talk about it all the time - the welcome we get."
"I'm so happy to be home; it's so special," Mescal added, expressing his happiness at returning to Ireland. My home is Dublin, where I studied and trained as an actor, so it's incredible to be returning in this way. The level of creative talent here is simply outstanding, therefore there must be something in the water.

Gladiator II is the follow-up to the wildly popular historical epic Gladiator, which made over €432 million worldwide.
The film, which had twelve Oscar nominations, took home five of them, including Best Picture, and its star, Russell Crowe, took home the Best Actor honour. Crowe's strong portrayal of Maximus, the gladiator hero, contributed to the film's critical and commercial success.
