Passengers traveling by plane were advised to check with their airline before departing. In the UK, a number of airports were forced to close last night and this morning due to snowfall.

Cork Airport said: “A moderate level of snow fell within the last hour. Our snow and ice teams were in the process of clearing the runway and taxiways. As a result, there was some disruption to arriving and departing services.
