Compared to the second quarter, the economy grew by 1.3%, and compared to the same period in 2023, it expanded by 3%. The services sector, which makes up the largest portion of the economy, was responsible for the majority of that expansion.

In addition, construction continued to expand, while manufacturing showed indications of recovery after the second quarter of last year's subpar performance.

The performance in the first quarter of the year was higher than anticipated, according to updated data, but the performance in the second quarter was revised down.

In the first quarter, the economy grew 1.9% as opposed to the initial 1.4% estimate, and in the second quarter, it grew by a slight 0.4% growth rate. Additionally, the data points to the possibility that the NI economy was outperforming the UK average.

However, those comparisons should be handled carefully because the UK and NI data are not entirely comparable; for instance, the UK figures contain a more advanced measure of output from the public sector.
