The plan, “Delivering for Ireland, Leading Globally”, sets out ambitious targets to create 40,500 new jobs by 2029, bringing total employment in the companies that Enterprise Ireland supports to 275,000.

It also seeks to grow exports to €50 billion by 2029, up from the €34 billion recorded in 2023, and foster new business growth, with plants to fund 1,000 new startups and establish 1,700 Irish-owned exporters over the next five years.

Enterprise Ireland, the Government agency responsible for developing Irish enterprises in global markets, currently works with over 4,000 businesses across various sectors and is focused on scaling these firms to become the primary driver of the Irish economy.

“With companies supported by Enterprise Ireland now employing 234,454 people and over €34 billion in exports, this gives the company a strong platform to launch our strategy, with ambitious targets for the Irish enterprises base which aims to support more Irish companies to achieve greater scale through international growth”, Kevin Sherry, CEO of Interim, said.

Peter Burke, Minister for Enterprise, Tourism, and Employment, also expressed confidence in the initiatives and actions outlined in the strategy, as it would position Ireland in front of emerging economic trends. “Irish exporters are a critical component of the country’s economy, and the Government is committed to supporting this sector to scale to further heights in the years ahead”, he concluded.
