Registered by the Mental Health Commission last month, the facility has already welcomed its first patients, catering to individuals in need of specialist rehabilitation in a therapeutic environment, supporting both those transitioning from hospitals and those requiring long term care.

The company will recruit healthcare professionals from several different fields, including psychiatric nurses, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, and healthcare assistants. In addition, roles will be available for security officers, housekeeping staff, and chefs.

Founded in 2004, Nua Healthcare employs 3,000 people at more than 100 facilities in Ireland, providing a range of services including residential care, community outreach, and supported living for both adults and children with complex needs such as intellectual disabilities, mental health conditions and acquired brain injuries.

This new facility is part of the company’s long-term plan to expand specialist services in line with national policy, including Sláintecare and Sharing the Vision, accepting referrals from across the six HSE regions. Currently, the centre has a 50-bed capacity but further plans for expansion are already in development.

Noel Dunne, CEO of Nua Healthcare, said that the “announcement is the result of the collaborative efforts of Nua team members, colleagues in the HSE, other state agencies, international service providers, and of course, the design and build team”.

“We work in a person-centred, dignified, and respectful way, and we believe that these new services – ideally positioned for accessibility – will support and complement the already established quality care provided by the HSE and other agencies in Ireland”, he added.

“Moreover, we hope they will serve as a catalyst for expanding and continuously improving specialist capacity, bringing hope to the many individuals in need”, he concluded.
