This development is part of a significant €3 million investment in its Longford operations, alongside an additional €1 million dedicated to enhancing its technology systems and expanding its in-house software team.
Recruitment is currently underway for a wide range of roles, including culinary staff, logistics and distribution personnel, mechanics, IT specialists, business development professionals, and customer service representatives. The new facility will serve as a central distribution hub for Food Village’s hot school meals and convenience food offerings, with a strong focus on secondary schools across Ireland.
Richie Nagle, Founder and CEO of Food Village, described the facility as a reflection of the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality, nutritious, and locally sourced meals to students nationwide. “This is a huge milestone for us,” he said. “We look forward to doubling our team and building a healthy future for our young people, while creating much-needed employment opportunities in a community we are proud to be a part of.”
The official opening of the Longford site will be attended by Minister of State at the Department of Finance and Longford-Westmeath TD, Robert Troy. “The provision of hot school meals is of fundamental importance for the well-being of pupils and contributes to better mental and physical health,” he stated. “I commend the whole team at Food Village for what they are developing here in Longford, and the national impact they are having on issues like food insecurity.”
Food Village’s services are accessible through mobile and web apps. The company uses AI-driven analytics and predictive models to help chefs anticipate student preferences, streamline production, and minimize food waste throughout the supply chain.
