Thanks to the National Just Transition Fund, improved developed paths up to 4 km in length have been established in collaboration with Offaly County Council and made available to park visitors.

According to the statement, the improvement improves the trails' accessibility for all users and offers additional chances to take in Lough Boora Discovery Park's distinctive beauty and biodiversity.

To keep the park in top condition, a committed staff has been in charge of an extensive maintenance programme from November 2023. This programme will last through 2024.

Additionally, Bord na Móna is investing an extra €250,000 to upgrade visitor facilities, thematic experiences, orientation and wayfinding, and overall visitor experience.

Inspired by the rich natural and industrial past of the bog lands, Lough Boora is home to some of Ireland's most imaginative land and environmental sculptures. A number of these large-scale artworks are now part of the park's permanent collection.

Creative Ireland is sponsoring a maintenance initiative for the sculptures in the park, which Bord na Móna and Offaly County Council are collaborating on.

According to the article, two new services have been added: bike rentals from Mid-Ireland Adventure and café services from Ballycommon Bake House.

During the busiest part of the year, Wednesday through Sunday is when these services are offered, and on the weekends in the off-season. The main parking lot is free of charge and open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Velo Rail Project will shortly start construction as well. A 4.1 km loop around the Bord na Móna small gauge railway is part of this project.

Bord na Móna has also assembled a committed recreation crew to work full-time on trails and other park projects in keeping with these enhancements.
