On RTÉ Player, there were 7.2 million streams of the Games between July 24th and August 11th. The most popular streams were Kellie Harrington’s gold medal match, Rashidat Adeleke’s 400m final, Daniel Wiffin’s bronze in the 1500m, Rhys McClenegan’s gold-winning performance, and the women’s 400m relay.
The top three events on RTÉ2 were:
- Kellie Harrington’s gold in the Women’s 60kg Boxing final, which peaked at 1.4 million viewers.
- Rhasidat Adeleke’s fourth-place finish in the Women’s 400m, with a peak of 926,000 viewers.
Ireland’s fourth-place finish in the Women’s 4x400m Relay, watched by 910,000 viewers.
Other TV highlights included Mona McSharry’s bronze medal swim on July 29th, which peaked at 621,000 viewers, and Fintan McCarthy and Paul O’Donovan’s back-to-back Olympic wins in lightweight rowing on August 2nd, attracting a peak audience of 429,000.
On August 3rd, 629,000 viewers tuned in as gymnast Rhys McClenaghan won gold on the pommel horse. The following day, Daniel Wiffin’s bronze in the 1,500m Freestyle, after his gold in the 800m Freestyle, was watched by 790,000 viewers.
The Olympics opening ceremony averaged 443,000 viewers (Live + Vosdal), while the closing ceremony drew an average of 346,000 viewers.
