Established in 1972 in New Orleans, Popeyes Louisiana Chicken is renowned for its American Southern-style chicken meals, seafood, and sides.

When they open in South Belfast's Forestside Shopping Centre, customers can anticipate chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, hot wings, wraps, and more.

The retail store said on social media that Popeyes would open for business as usual on Friday, September 20 at 11 a.m.

Three more tenants, including the chicken restaurant, have been revealed to join Forestside by the end of 2023.

Mussenden Properties Limited, a company owned by Michael Herbert, paid

£42 million for Forestside last year, and construction on a new restaurant unit in the former parking lot started in January.

Around 100 new jobs would be created for the town when the new eateries opened for business this summer, according to the plans that were revealed.

It has been disclosed that the Portuguese flame-grilled peri-peri chicken chain Nandos, which now operates four other sites around the city, will be the second restaurant to open on the property.
