Swimmers compete in a 2,200-meter race from Rory O'More Bridge to Custom House Quay, with up to 406 men and women entering.

The winner of the women's race was UCD's Aislinn Callery.

The men's swim was won by Simon Murray in 17 minutes. He said, "I don't know how!" to his loved ones from Liffey.

To be eligible to compete in the Liffey Swim, swimmers from Leinster must finish four qualifying swims on the swim calendar.

This month, there have been two Liffey Swims because of a dispute about who should host the illustrious competition.

Leinster Open Sea, the organisation that has organised the swim for the past few years, has accused Swim Ireland, the authority that oversees swimming, of attempting to take over the competition.

Although the swim has always been conducted under Swim Ireland's supervision, Swim Ireland expressed issues with the organization's administration at Leinster Open Sea.

On September 7, Swim Ireland held their Liffey Swim.
