According to Translink, the flagship route to Dublin would operate hourly, with 15 trains departing the £340 million transport hub daily for the Republic of Ireland, for a total of 30 trains operating in both directions.

"This move will make it easier, more convenient, and flexible for people to consider the train as their sustainable travel option and help advance climate goals," a public transportation company spokeswoman continued.

Direct train services between Belfast and Dublin are expected to start on October 7, following cross-border ticket advertisements on Irish Rail's website starting on that day.

Grand Central Station opened for bus service on September 8, but Translink has yet to provide an official date for when trains will begin to depart from it.

According to Translink, train services will start running from the new station as soon as the company obtains the necessary safety certification.
