Ballyroan resident Ms. McCormack was put forth as the candidate. Those present gave Ms. McCormack a standing ovation.
She told Sinn Féin members that being chosen for the party was an honour. "I do not underestimate the challenge given the recent difficulties in Laois," she stated.
"The Sinn Féin seat belongs to Sinn Féin, it does not belong to anyone in particular," she stated.
According to Ms. McCormack, she aspires to become Laois's first female TD.
🤩 Voting for Sinn Féin’s Maria McCormack is the best way for the people of Laois to call time on governments led by Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael & seize the historic opportunity to elect a new government for working people led by Sinn Féin.
