The guide's objectives are to enlighten candidates about the responsibilities of An Garda Síochána and Coimisiún na Meán and to give them guidance on what to do in the event that they come across offensive or unlawful internet content or behaviour.
Information about various scenarios that could occur during the campaign and what candidates can do is included in the pack.
Additionally, it contains information on how to report content that appears to be illegal on a variety of platforms.
For election candidates who would like to voice concerns, Coimisiún na Meán has established a special email address, and the watchdog stated that it will give priority to answering such questions.
As part of their election preparations, Coimisiún na Meán's Digital Services Commissioner, John Evans, stated that they are interacting with online platforms.
"We expect them to play their part in ensuring that people can make free, fair and informed choices about where to cast their vote," Evans stated.
"We hope that this information pack will help candidates understand their online rights and where to seek assistance if necessary. We want our media landscape to support democracy and electoral integrity."
An Garda Síochána designated liaison inspectors in every division across the country in advance of the recent local and European elections to help ensure the safety of all candidates during the campaign.
Candidates in the upcoming General Election will also have access to these divisional liaison inspectors.
