Smaller groups of Wrenboys wandered from home to house in the more rural areas of the peninsula, while the larger groups filled the streets of Dingle-Daingean Uí Chúis with colour and noise.

The town, which is called An Dreoilín or 'The Wran' in west Kerry, is home to four major Wrenboy groups: the Green and Gold Wran, the Quay Wran, the John Street Wran, and the Goat Street Wran.

A wide variety of odd costumes and masks complement the traditional attire of straw skirts and hats. It is uncertain where the centuries-old custom came from.

Some others think the festival might have pagan overtones.
