This growth underscores the airport’s crucial role as an international gateway for Ireland and a key access point in the Wild Atlantic Way.

Currently, Shannon operates 38 routes connecting 12 countries, offering passengers extensive travel options. Ryanair recently announced its presence at Shannon by adding a fourth-based aircraft, launching three new routes to Lapland, Madeira, and Madrid, and increasing flight frequencies on six existing routes. These expansions are expected to boost connectivity and support ongoing growth in the latter half of the year.

Mary Consideine, CEO of The Shannon Airport Group, emphasised the importance of this momentum and the need for supportive government policies. She highlighted that with the right backing from the new National Aviation Policy, Shannon Airport could unlock even greater connectivity, foster regional economic development, and promote balanced growth across Ireland.

To accommodate rising passenger numbers, Shannon Airport has recently added 1,000 new parking spaces, part of a larger €30 million investment initiative that includes improvements across the airport and the adjoining Shannon Airport Business Park. This investment reflects the airport’s commitment to enhancing passenger experience and supporting its expanding operations.

As Shannon Airport continues to grow, it remains a vital hub for both leisure and business travellers, strengthening Ireland’s position on the global aviation map and contributing significantly to the regional economy.
