The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Council and the Land Development Agency are responsible for completing the Shanganagh Castle project in Shankill, County Dublin.

The project will have 597 dwelling units in total.

51 reasonably priced buy houses, 195 inexpensive rental flats, and 35 communal apartments make up the first phase.

The property Development Agency plans to finish about 20 housing developments on State-owned property, this being the first in the pipeline.

According to the agency, the government would provide equity contributions to help the affordable buy homes, with a two-bed house starting at €344,600.

This implies that Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Council, the local government, would still own a portion of the house.

This reduces the initial outlay, and the local government holds a portion of the money until it is settled or the property is sold. The cost of renting an apartment will begin at €1,175 per month.

On October 9, qualified purchasers may submit an application to acquire one of the 51 homes; later in the year, applications for the 195 flats will be accepted.

In two further phases in 2025, the remaining 316 homes—all apartments—will become available.

Darragh O'Brien, the minister of housing, and Taoiseach Simon Harris will introduce the program.
