The television station moved to Belfast Harbour in 2018 after operating out of Havelock House on Ormeau Road since 1959. Havelock House was sold to home builder Lotus Property and demolished earlier this year.
More than 100 social dwellings will be built on the property by Lotus in collaboration with Clanmil, a social housing provider. Clanmil called the idea a "landmark project which responds directly to the housing need for Belfast now and in the future" when it was initially unveiled in November 2023.
Additionally, 62 social dwellings for west Belfast were authorised by the council's planning committee.
They will be a part of the mixed-use renovation of the Whiterock Road campus of Belfast Metropolitan College. Belfast's downtown has also seen the approval of a sizable student housing project.
Permission has been given to developer McAleer and Rushe to destroy Norwich Union House, a former office block on Castle Street. It will be swapped out with 821 student rooms with shared amenities like a movie theatre and a fitness centre.
