Since launching its first location in the county in 2000, Aldi has invested a total of €18.8 million in Offaly, including the new shop, which represents an investment of over €9.8 million in the area.

The store, which is Aldi's third location in County Offaly and its 163rd location in Ireland since it first opened here 25 years ago, is situated on O'Connell Street in Tullamore.

With over 76 employees spread between its three Offaly locations, the shop spends more than €1.5 million on wages each year. Additionally, it has spent €23 million with its food suppliers in Offaly.

The new store represents a major investment in the area, according to Senator Pippa Hackett, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine.

"I think it may end up being a big investment in Irish agriculture as well. With all Bord Bia Quality Assured fresh meat, poultry, and egg products delivered to stores every day, ALDI has a long history of helping Irish farmers," the senator stated.

"With high-quality, well-paying positions, the new Tullamore shop supports the economic growth of the area and generates vital local employment prospects for Offaly. Since 2020, ALDI has taken the lead in ensuring that all of its workers receive a livable wage," she continued.
