The Dundalk Grammar School GAA team confirmed in an update that starting in 2025, both boys and girls will play Gaelic football in the senior cycle.
The school team will be allowed to participate in the Lennon Cup competition the following year, and a friendly match is scheduled for this academic year. Girls will be able to compete starting in the school year 2025–2026.
According to the team, this decision comes after a number of fruitful talks between the Board of Governors, school personnel, and themselves.
The team thanked everyone who helped them along the route in a statement.
"We would like to thank everyone who helped us, notably Ruairí Ó Murchú TD, who was instrumental in getting the Dáil to take notice of their campaign.
"We owe Ruairí Ó Murchú TD a great deal for his steadfast support during our campaign.
