During the Christmas and New Year break, Iarnród Éireann will complete a track replacement of the nation's busiest train line segment, the "loop line," which connects Dublin's Connolly and Pearse Stations.
The route, which sees just under 100,000 train movements a year, has its lowest passenger volume during the Christmas/New Year season, according to Iarnród Éireann.
4.2 km of track from Connolly Station to Pearse Station will be completely replaced as part of the project.

The track work will be the line's first renewal in 20 years; comparable work was done during the Christmas and New Year 2004 and 2005 holidays.
With few exceptions between Pearse and Grand Canal Dock, the line will be blocked between Connolly and Grand Canal Dock throughout this period.
