The 24-year-old singer, born in Norway, was chosen through a combination of public voting, an international jury, and a national jury. EMMY, who began writing songs at the age of seven, gained recognition in 2015 when she participated in Melidi Grand Prix Junior, one of Norway’s biggest music competitions for children.

This young performer was one of six artists competing for the honour of representing Ireland at Eurovision, alonside Bobbi Arlo (“Powerplay”), Reylta (“Fire”), Adgy (“Run into the Night”), Samantha Mumba (“My way”), and NIYL (“Growth”).

The selection panel featured past Irish Eurovision contestant Bambie Thug, 2008 entry Donal Skehan, RTÉ 2FM’s Laura Fox, and Dancing with the Stars judge Arthur Gourounlian.

In 2024, Bambie Thug was the first Irish entry to qualify for the Grand Final since 2018 and secured the country’s best placement in the contest since 2000. Last year, Nemo took home the trophy for Switzerland with their song “The Code”, becoming the first non-binary artist to win Eurovision.

The Eurovision Semi-Finals will take place on May 13 and 15, with the Grand Final set for May 17.
